Who operates Starfish Treasure?

Starfish Treasure is an outreach ministry of Boca Raton Community Church, run by church volunteers who are excited about the idea of making a difference in the lives of others while reducing excess in their own.

Why is it called Starfish Treasure?

The “Starfish” part of the name comes from the Starfish Story, which illustrates that one person doing one simple act of kindness can make a huge difference in one other person’s life. The “Treasure” part of the name comes from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, in particular Matthew 6: 19a, 20-21.

Matthew 6: 19a, 20-21 – Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
