Donkeys are an essential mode of transportation in rural Haiti. A donkey can serve a family by carrying water, firewood, and produce to their home. A woman with a donkey is able to engage in commerce, carrying goods to market to sell or trade for other family necessities. It also allows elderly family members to make the often long trek to church.
